Does Obama Deserve Another Term

A voter banging his head against the wall wondering who to vote for

Does Obama deserve another term? Actually, deserve has nothing to do with it. Did Obama EARN another term is the question we all should be asking. The answer is an obvious no.

President Obama has himself said he has not accomplished much; he has a lot of his agenda to go. But what is his agenda, to lead and help the American people, or to destroy America? His supporters will say lead, his opponents will say destroy.

Well, let’s examine his Presidency. What are his accomplishments, what has he done to better America? Anyone, anyone, I am hearing crickets. Is there anyone out there? That will just about sum up his accomplishments. Seriously, his supporters will say he is responsible for passing a new health care bill. Well, his opponents will say it is about time he takes responsibility for that mess. He is responsible for the rising health care rates at a yearly percentage higher than before Obamacare. It will only get worse over the next two years as the bulk of Obamacare begins in 2012 and 2013. The size of government will grow as the IRS expands by many hundreds if not thousands of positions to administer the program. Medicare will go up exponentially as the loophole for those with early retirement and those without insurance will become eligible for the program. Many employees will lose their coverage because employers will drop health coverage for the employees and pay the $ 2,000 fine as that is cheaper than the benefit package is. There are many other regulations and fees that will drive up costs all of which are placed on the back of the middle class.

They will say he is the one who got Bin Laden. His opponents will say let’s put it in proper terms, he happened to be the President when the got Bin Laden. The people responsible are the intelligence community and the armed forces, namely seal team six. In fact it took Obama a week to OK the raid; he was against it at first. Later, leaks from the Whitehouse were that Clinton and Obama had some tense discussions over it. Clinton was one who wanted to go in as soon as the details were presented. Several other sources within the military also confirmed Obama was hesitant or against the raid.

They will say Obama made cuts to the budget and lowered taxes. His opponents will point out actual spending when Obama took office was 2.8 trillion dollars, for 2012 it is projected to go over 4 trillion dollars. Compared to when Bush took office it was 1.9 trillion dollars and eight years later it was 2.8 trillion dollars. Obama raised the budget more in four years than Bush did in eight. When Bush left office, revenues for that last year was 2.584 trillion dollars, Under Obama they tanked to 2.1 trillion dollars. Last year revenues were 2.3 trillion dollars, and this was the “robust” economy Obama said we had, yet revenues are still less than when Bush was President. As for taxes, Obama does get credit for the tax holiday for 2011 and for the 2 months in 2012, but it does not offset the problems it created for the Social Security program. It also does not offset all the tax hikes that came out of Obamacare and the ones still to come from the law. It does not offset the tax hikes that Obama put in place. It does not offset the fees and regulations that will cost the people in higher prices.

They will say he was great for business. His opponents will point out all the regulations he put in place. They will point out all the persecution of business on behalf of labor unions, or the ones to further his personal agenda. Obama is against coal and has put regulations in place beginning 2012 that will force many coal plants to convert to natural gas, those where the conversion is not cost effective will close down. In the electric generating industry, this regulation will cost tens of thousands of jobs from the plant closings, less electricity available to the already shaky electrical grid system which will lead to more brownouts or rolling blackouts than we currently have. Also the gas conversions, the other coal plants that put systems in place to meet the new regulations, all those costs will be passed on to the consumer resulting in much higher electric bill.

They will say he created many new jobs during his administration. His opponents will say that unemployment rose under Obama going up to 10.4%. They will point out he actually cost jobs and blocked jobs from occurring. He blocked the Keystone pipeline project. A project that would have created tens of thousands of jobs, was already to go as this was the second phase of the project, was studied, subject to environmental and feasibility studies and passed them all, was give the permit to begin. Prior to breaking ground, Obama put the project on hold. Opponents will point out having the DOJ go after Boeing for building a plant in Carolina which would have employed tens of thousands. Opponents will point out the DOJ going after Gibson guitar and in the pleading specifically telling the company to relocate the business overseas. The opponents will say this is just a few.

They will say he tried to get control of the budget and it was the Republicans obstructing him. Opponents will point out it was Obama that took over Gm at a loss, took over Chrysler at a loss, loans to many companies like Solyndra all that either went bust or were a loss or bust to the taxpayers. Wastefully spending taxpayer monies on their personal travel, their vacations, a date night in New York, Flying the dog from a Vacation place in Hawaii to have a photo op at the Whitehouse, and there is so much more.

It surely appears he has not earned another four years. His supporters that really want him back ask Obama these questions. What would he do to help the economy? Do you have any new ideas or are you going to do the same things that have not worked so far? And if you have a new idea, why have you not introduced it, what are you waiting for?

I believe the answers to those questions should have the Democrats scrambling looking for another candidate. That is my American View, Tell us yours.

Well the Democrats and the unions are at it again in the state of Wisconsin. They haven't learned their lesson, they still want to be divisive, and of course they still want to waste money. • Can Obama Get Reelected in 2012

We all know that the presidential primaries are in full swing with all the noise Republicans are making. The Democratic primaries are currently going on at a much lower fevered pitch. After all what could there be to talk about, Obama is running unopposed, or is he. Turnout in most of the Democratic primaries has been light. In fact, if states did not have key races with Senators or Congressmen on the ballot, it would seem like turnout would be nonexistent. Of course so far in every state with - 2 weeks ago

Do Republicans really have a chance at winning the Presidency in November of 2012? President Obama surely has made it easy enough for almost anyone to defeat him. In fact in his speech kicking off his reelection campaign, president Obama did not mention one thing that he accomplished during his first term. Interesting point of view. I think 2012 will all boil down to energy.

In 2010, the Tea Party energized the Republican base and energy level for them was very high. If somehow this can be repeated in November, I think the chances of Obama being ousted are high.

In 2008, Obama energized the Democratic base and especially energized young Millennials who voted for him over McCain by a 2-1 margin. This was the largest voting gap among all generations and made a huge difference in his election. If Obama can somehow repeat this, his chances of losing are quite low.

The problem is that both the Tea Party and Millennials have been less energized recently. A lot can change between now and November, but as of now it seems to be a crap-shoot as to who has the energy behind them.

If neither side can get these groups to rally and get energized like they did in 2008 and 2010, I think the victory will go to Obama. Incumbents are hard to defeat by their very nature. Baring some unforeseen circumstance in the world, which shatters the economy, I think his chances are quite high for reelection.

My opinion is that it really doesn't matter whether Obama wins or loses, neither will help the people. Although Obama has not proved he can help.

The real question is does it matter who is president?

Or even who is in Congress.

Look at the last hundred years of the country and chart the progress versus the parties. The Democrats and the Republicans got us to where we find ourselves today.

The Election of 2012 will do no better regardless of which party gets control. It has been documented in history, so it is pretty much a fact.

The government has been broken by the two party system. The result of the two party system is no real forward motion, it is more like a see saw. One party control makes it go up, until the other party gets control and puts the work of the other party down.

And in many cases it took both parties working together to keep bad things flowing.

For example, SS and Medicare.

The government workers and politicians don't need SS and Medicare. They have taxpayer paid defined benefits pensions and paid healthcare.

SS and Medicare are TAXES with a promise, but predominantly they have been kept alive for revenue. But now that pay outs for SS are so heavy, they now want to blame the retirees for the heavy debt of SS.

It took both parties to keep this Ponzi scheme alive for three quarters of a century. Neither party saved the system to make it viable.

The current reliance on Foreign Oil and the lack of a green environment are also the work of both parties.

Since the two big oil scares of the 1970s, no Congress or President did anything to prevent the economic and defense issues of foreign oil dependence today.

These are just a few facts to support my opinion, that the two party system has broken the government.

PZ,

I agree. What I fear is that republicans will not be happy with whoever becomes the candidate. I think they may say they will not vote for Obama, but they do not like their guy so they just will stay home and not vote. If Repub turnout is light, Obama walks back in.

IR,

I think the only way something good will happen is if one party has control in the whitehouse and the other contrls both houses of congress. Thie will force them to work together and make things happen, like what happened under Clinton. Our reliance on foriegn oil will not be cured with green energy. We need to increase our own domestic exploration to releive our oil dependence.

I don't think you understood my comment.

I totally disagree with your reply.

Additionally, I didn't say that green energy was a solution.

BTW, currently we export a lot of our domestic oil, so getting more from exploration will just increase our exported oil.

IR,

Feel free to disagree, it would scare me if everyone agreed with me.

First, I do not believe you understand the reasons for our oil exports. Some is political to keep some small countries like Chile, Singapore and Brazil as allies. Some are just for logistical purposes. Like if I drill and refine oil in Montana. You're across the border in Calgary, Canada, and I export oil to you. Your Canadian cousin drills and refines oil in Quebec. She exports to me in Maine. A lot cheaper than shipping Quebec to Calgary, Billings to Bangor. And indeed, Canada is both the biggest importer of U.S. oil AND the biggest exporter of oil TO the U.S. But despite all that, we export 1.6 million barrels of oil per day, or about 8% of our total daily drilling.

AV

The bottom line is that none of these exports help us be less depend on foreign oil.

The state and federal government have a huge conflict of interest in the fuel issue.

While they want air quality and they make fuel requirements, they also get revenue from every gallon of fuel sold. The federal government get a fix amount per gallon, while the states get their own fixed amount per gallon, and in addition they get sales tax on each gallon.

So the more gallons sold the more revenue they receive. Additionally, the states get more revenue with every increase in the price of fuel.

No wonder that since the two oil scares of the 1970s, no congress has done anything to reduce fuel usage.

Increasing mpg reduces federal and state revenue, and increases air quality.

BTW, in Southern Ca we have oil drilling and refineries yet we have one of the highest prices for fuel. We also have the highest concentration of drivers in the country.

It does not matter where the oil comes from, the government taxes our fuel, so I am not sure your point.

The Obama administration and 13 automakers have agreed to boost the fuel economy of cars and light-duty trucks sold in the United States to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. The new agreement more than doubles the current Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE. I guess you missed that since you stated Washington has not done anything.

As for your high fuel Prices, you can blame Gov. Brown. Not during this term but one many years ago, he put into law that california had to put additives in the gas to make it burn cleaner, then they had oxygen added to it. That dramiticaly raised the fuel price in Califonia, no other state has those regulations.

Obama deserves another term about as much as Jimmie Carter did. I never thought I'd see a worse President than Carter in modern history but I'm seeing one.

IR,

My comment about where it comes from was about the taxes. It does not matter because imported or domestic, gas gets the same tax.

As far as it being an economic and homeland problem, Seems I have been preaching it for about a year now

This has to be Obama's first and last term. He now says that he is prepred to go it alone, without Congress. When did we turn into a dictatorship? Up interesting, useful and awesome.

I don't think America can survive another four years of this so called leader. He has yet again bypassed congress to appoint his choice, Richard Cordray, with no regard for our system of checks and balances. I can't see where he has done anything, not one single thing to help the nation. In fact, I can’t see where even the most left leaning of us can honestly say he has not hurt us. He keeps touting a class warfare as if he is the champion of the poor yet he is rich himself. He keeps demanding more and more in the name of democracy while making a mockery of it by appointing czars of all things. All I can say is those of us who love America, what it stands for and the Constitution that allowed for us all to be free need to ROCK THE VOTE on a scale never seen before.

Recess appointments are nothing new. The only thing that is new is the ability for Senate to 'stay in session' indefinitely through pro-forma meets. It is something Harry Reid used to stop Bush from making additional recess appointments after 2007. The technique to stay in session is just as questionable in my view since the Constitution does enable the President to make recess appointments.

Hello, AV, of course, the theme of your article is just a matter of opinion. While Obama is not fine woven gold, I see nothing from the GOP to give me confidence that they could do any better outside rehashing concepts that put us in this quandary in the first place.

Just my opinion
