Media Bias Towards Obama

Media Bias to Obama?
Now I am not saying the Media should jump on him, but if his name was say Bachmann, Palin, Huntsman, it would lead the cable news shows and appear on the front page of every newspaper
I specifically picked those 3 names as they are the largest targets by the media these days, Palin for several years, Backmann real heavy lately. Must be in reaction to the latest poll. Why you may ask? Here we go. Ask yourself this, can the media shape an election? Absolutely. So how can they achieve that? They are once again trying to help influence you into choosing the candidate they approve of. In this case, the media is left bias. Now that’s an overall statement, there are a few right bias media stations as well. But in total, there are more left media outlets than right. So they look to see the best candidate that could beat Obama. They then attack those people in hope voters will ignore those candidates and choose the one they think Obama can beat. As of now, those are the three who could beat Obama so they will get the most scrutiny. The lesser of a threat you will hear less like Ron Paul, he is not even a dot on the radar so he is totally ignored.
President Obama had a truly dad moment on 6-30-2011 during his speech/press conference as he fielded questions on the deficit reduction negotiations and other topics at the White House.
While suggesting that Republicans might be the ultimate procrastinators, and did it quite rudely and untruthfully, Obama remarked, "Malia and Sasha generally finish their homework a day ahead of time. Malia's 13, Sasha's 10. It is impressive. They don't wait until the night before. They're not pulling all nighters. They're 13 and 10. You know, congress can do the same thing. If you know you've got to do something, just do it."
Wise words! Except Malia is only 12. One more problem with his statement. Back when I went to school all those many years ago,(it hurt to write that admitting I am getting up there in age LOL) Homework was assigned and due the next day. So how can Malia and Sasha get their homework completed a day early? Do they know what the teacher is going to assign tomorrow so they do it tonight and turn it in 2 days later? How else could you explain it? Easy, Obama lied to make a point. So he messed up twice on his kids and nothing is said. What of the three I picked earlier would have done that? What would have been the Medias response? Armageddon, that’s what. And if Ron Paul said it, we would hear crickets.
Media has at times, some outlets many times, give a report and twist the facts or misrepresent them. As sometimes happens, they get called on the carpet, shown they are wrong. But do you see a retraction or an apology? Of course not for they got the damage done, the completed their agenda, and do not cover it again. Even if they do apologize or retract it is done in such a minor way it is almost never recognized. So they are able to keep the fairytale going.
The media also helps to play into it. At this press conference like all others Obama does he picks the names of the reporters from list of index cards he has in front of him. He calls the names in then order he has the cards in. Why does he do this? Simple, he has the reporters give the list of questions they want to ask. Obama then in turn picks the ones he wants to answer and puts them in the order he wants to answer them in. That way he is prepared to give his talking points he knows the media will push for him. Name me another President that just said “ok reporter one, where are you, ok it’s your turn” Every President before him pointed to someone in the reporter pool to ask the question and had no idea what the question would be. Not Obama. No pointing, reads his card, calls them by name, looks up to try and locate them, listens to the question he already knows is coming, then answers. By the way, in case he forgets the answer there are 2 wide screen monitors he looks at to remember his answers (picture of last news conference show in the margin shows the monitors). Now do not take that as I am picking on him for using Teleprompters. All Presidents did and will continue to do so. It is too difficult to remember every word to a speech you are giving, it is too hard to remember all the questions answer even if you are cherry picking the questions. There is no doubt if I was President I would use them to. I suspect you would to.
Look, people make choices and present them in the way that best gets their view across. All media does it every day to push their agenda. Walter Cronkite is rolling in his grave seeing how bias all of media has become. So, how can we stop it? Well all of media calling each other names, the subject of their stories names and some do it more than others. MSNBC is the king of calling their targets names. But due to the publish growing intolerance, MSNBC has been forced to take action on several of their journalists recently. Fox should have but did not. Hannity routinely calls Obama “The Anointed One”. Really? Does that make you feel good? Any of you? Like I said the public is getting tired of it. Viewership is down across the board, print media has seen prescriptions drop over numerous years; the internet has a lot to do with that. Even on the internet, tolerance is dropping. Some news sites have had to sell to others because of reader decline. So here is how we can stop it. A panel of citizens called Honesty in Media covets the media. Every time they catch a lie, a false or severely misleading story, the media outlet gets fined $15,000 per offence. Pay that enough they will start to fly right. The Media must also become neutral. No more hosting debates, No more contributing to campaigns, no more letting congressman own stock in the media, get rid of all affiliations with a particular political party. Especially the debates where you ask simple leading questions of you favorites to make them look good and stupid ones with stupid follow-ups to make the candidate look bad. Mostly because they just ask stupid questions. Point in case, the last debate on CNN where John King asks questions that has nothing to do with politics or the issues at hand. That would be a good start
My point to all of this is simple. Its election season. The rhetoric is flying real high. Do not believe the garbage and the mudslinging. Do your research. Check out ALL of the candidates. Understand their position Wikipedia is a great source to understand what the candidates have accomplished and tell you their downfalls. For example I did not know Ron Paul was racist till I read it on Wikipedia. It is a great source and it is not bias. It does the same foe everything you could want to research, even on issues. Good luck and may we all choose the ones we want.

Everyday Congressmen and Senators get onto the floor of their respective chambers and give speeches on different topics. Then they'll gather in the rotunda to give news conferences blaming each other for the issue at hand doesn't get resolved. Of course now that it is campaign season, they give broader speeches, and at times their speech has nothing to do with the issue at hand for which they were supposed to be addressing. Raising my kids I always told them to be responsible, to take responsibility for their actions. If you did something wrong, be honest, step up and take the punishment that may come for your actions. That’s what I have done my entire life and expect no more or less of my kids. I have been far from an angel in my life, but I took responsibility for my actions, including having been in jail, I never blame anyone nor do I expect anything. There should not be any rewards for not being responsible. - 3 days ago

Well the Democrats and the unions are at it again in the state of Wisconsin. They haven't learned their lesson, they still want to be divisive, and of course they still want to waste money. I'm talking of the recall election of Gov. Scott Walker. The last attempts at a recall on the senators and congressmen of Wisconsin was a failure to the tune of $30 million spent by them. I have no idea how much they're spending this time, but the unions are bragging they are spending more that last election, - 7 days ago

great disclaimer... must've been an easy hub to write- the determination of what to keep must have been mind boggling with the potential volume of examples.....

hi, AV, thanks for allowing me to join your team, as you know, we have ideological differences in some areas, but to put our respective ideas out there as a reality check with the opposing team is a way to temper them. Like I do with others on the conservative side of the ledger, I can and will be critical, but nothing personal. Gotta check out more of your articles, have a look at mine if you find the time.
If I really had a bytch with the rights media it is the virtual coronation given the nut case, Glen Beck, by Fox as a national network.
Politics is something I generally stay out of. If the media isn't doing Obama up the wazoo, at least they aren't doing him any favors either. Bad publicity is generally counted better than no publicity. Disclaimer: I am not an Obama supporter! I did not vote for him. I actually put my dog's name on the last ballot because he would've been a better choice than any of the candidates on the thing!
AW,
I was not fooled I voted for the doddering old Arizonan- with him at least I felt he would have done something with the border and knew what it was like to be in the military-

Thank you for this excellent article. I agree with you. Last month I watched a fine documentary called "Media Malpractice." Check it out.

A good hub. One I agree with whole heartedly. I never thought reading from a telepromter was a bad thing, i also figured the talk about president obama's birth certificate was a waste of time. I dislike his stand and policys for more concrete reason's than that.
I notice the media lack of fair and imparcial coverage for a long time. Keep up the good work!
